La palabra francesa “terroir” se emplea en diferentes lenguas y culturas para describir las características de la tierra y el clima que confieren carácter a un vino. Podríamos transferir esta palabra a los humanos y a las circunstancias culturales que hacen que una persona sea de una u otra manera. El hecho es que toda persona proviene de un vientre de mujer y, a pesar de esto, es extraña la cultura que supere el machismo o el androcentrismo. Con este cómic musical, la directora se pregunta: “¿por qué pervertimos el recipiente de la vida hasta su propia negación?”.

Terroir offers a lot to think about: the layered messages, the multiple symbolism, the strength and fragility of the earth and children. It’s a haunting movie and leaves me hungry to discuss it with others.
What a provocative film! Terroir remind us that the subtle and intense aspects of a child’s environment are as complex and impactful as the components that effect the nurturing of grapes onto wine. Women paid a price when they committed to the struggle for a better future for their daughters: they sacrifice precious time with them to ensure that they would flourish and their lives would be more abundant.
